Due to a viral explosion of email on a couple of large email lists yesterday evening, we have been fighting overwhelmed mail queues in all systems throughout the night. Note that many messages sent yesterday evening through this morning have been delayed. Currently, the only mail delays are messages sent from within the Exchange 2007 environment to non-Exchange UCSD addresses. This should be resolved shortly.

In the last hour we've received a large amount of listserver email bound for the campus Exchange servers. This is built up a large queue on the edge servers and causing delays for incoming mail. We expect the queues and delivery times to resume to normal within the next couple of hours.

We have scheduled some maintenance of the Recharge Exchange system starting at 7:00 pm tonight and concluding at midnight on Monday.
A group of mailboxes will be moved to new data stores, so individual mailboxes will be unavailable during the move. For most users (of average mailbox size), this will be an outage of a few minutes. For
larger mailboxes, this can take a few hours. No mail will be lost and no reconfiguration of mail clients is required.
