SIO Backbone and Firewall Migration - Nov 20th 2100

Incident report: We have completed the installation and testing of a new high-capacity backbone network and firewall infrastructure and are ready to begin migration activities.

START: 9:00PM Monday, November 20, 2017
STOP: 2:00AM Tuesday, November 21, 2017

SCOPE: Backbone upgrade of SIO. Migration to Aggregation Layer router and firewall

IMPACT: All wired and wireless network traffic to and from UCSD networks in the SIO area of campus will experience network outages during the upgrade window, as follows:

9:00PM - 10:00PM - Network cutover/outage window

10:00PM - 11:00PM - Sysadmin troubleshooting - please see Zoom info below

11:00PM - 2:00AM - Overflow for unexpected issues.

Buildings impacted :

All Buildings at SIO
* Except for the SIO-Colo which is not part of this upgrade and will not be impacted.

We STRONGLY RECOMMEND troubleshooting your networks and systems during the 10PM-11PM downtime window, rather than waiting to discover issues the morning following the upgrades.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

This outage will not impact the campus voice/phone service at SIO.

Wired and wireless connectivity is expected to be restored by 10:00PM.
