Node-M Backbone and Firewall Migration 11/15/2017

Incident report: Greetings System Admins,

This message is to inform you that ITS has scheduled the following network maintenance :

START: 11:00PM Wednesday, November 15, 2017
STOP: 6:00AM Thursday, November 16, 2017

SCOPE: Backbone upgrade of Node-M. Migration to Aggregation Layer router and firewall

IMPACT: All wired and wireless network traffic to and from UCSD networks in the following buildings will experience network outages during the upgrade window, as follows:

11:00PM - 11:59PM - Network cutover/outage window

Midnight - 1:00AM - Sysadmin troubleshooting - please see Zoom info below

1:00AM - 6:00AM - Overflow for unexpected issues.

Central Utilities Building
Early Childhood Education Center
Galbraith Hall
Housing Dining and Hospitality Services Building and Admin locations in Revelle
Main Gym and Natatorium
Mayer Hall (Excluding High Energy Physics Computer Room)
Natural Sciences Building
Old Student Center Buildings (A,B,Co-op, General Store)
Pacific Hall
Theater and Dance Complex Buildings (Forum, Wagner, Playhouse, Potiker)
Urey Hall
York Hall

We STRONGLY RECOMMEND troubleshooting your networks and systems during the Midnight - 1:00AM downtime window, rather than waiting to discover issues the morning following the upgrades.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

This outage will not impact the campus voice/phone service in the buildings listed. This outage will not impact Resnet wired or wireless networks.

Wired and wireless connectivity is expected to be restored by 11:59PM.
