This message is to inform you that ITS Office of Information Assurance Security Engineering and Services group has scheduled the following network upgrade:
START: 0600 Wednesday, October 13 STOP: 0700 Wednesday, October 13 SCOPE: Firewall system firmware upgrades for the Adcom Datacenter (at SDSC) and off the Agg1 router or Node M IMPACT: Light interruption can be expected. There may be short (< 5 secs) hiccups as failover events occur and connections may not recover unless re-established. It largely depends on how fragile the service is.
In order to resolve software/security bugs, Security will be upgrading the software on the firewall hardware. The firewall devices are in a redundant high-availability configuration. The firewalls will upgrade sequentially, and traffic will be automatically balanced to the non-impacted firewall device while the upgrade is occurring. The firewalls failover in a stateful manner so existing network connections should not be dropped as services fail over.
