Power shutdown is specific to the cellular equipment located on the roof. No power will be lost to the rest of Tioga Hall.
Cellular phones for AT&T Verizon, and Dish should still function as carrier equipment has battery backup systems installed that should keep sites on air for the duration of the power shutdown. T Mobile subscribers may be affected more as they will be actively upgrading service power to their equipment.
If any cellular carrier equipment goes down subscribers will be able to join a UCSD hotspot to make calls, send texts, browse the web, and use social media applications.
