Campus ITS will be performing a mainframe switch upgrade on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 9:00–11:00 a.m. This is a courtesy notice only; no impact to normal operations is expected, and only disaster recovery connections may briefly be affected.

Maintenance: Restore & Upgrade of Agg1 Firewall Cluster Jun 21, 2025 19:00-21:00 PDT

ITS has scheduled the following maintenance:

WHEN: Saturday, June 21, 2025 1900-2100

IMPACT: ITS Security will be performing a backup and restore operation to resolve a synchronization issue that appeared as a result of the recent failed cluster rebuild of the firewall cluster. This will involve a required simultaneous reboot of both firewalls in the cluster which will result in a 15 minute downtime. During the duration of this reboot there will be an outage for any network firewalled on agg1 to include networks in Nodes M, Muir, U, V, J, A, and K. This also includes RESNET and an outage of the campus NAT and Proxy services. This means wireless, VPN, and RESNET access off campus will also be down.

After the reboot, a firmware upgrade will be performed to bring the cluster up to 7.2.11. During this upgrade process the network will stay up, but users will experience 10-15 small network interruptions as upgrades are done.

What: Reload network switch b-vis-arts-bldg4-c9300-48
When: Thursday May 29, 2025 between 3 AM and 5:30 AM
Scope: reload the switch to upgrade the IOS software code from an old, outdated software code to the current standard code.
Impact: Loss of wired and wireless connections to network switch b-vis-arts-bldg4-c9300-48 for approx 30 minutes.
The switch is located at SSRB Fourth Floor (Social Sciences Research Building, Fourth Floor).

Scheduled - SDSC engineers will be swapping our network switch ‘Colo-10G’ which houses 10G & 40G connections to specific systems. The new network switch is installed and preconfigured, during the maintenance the physical cables will be moved to the new switch. Downtime is expected to be minimal as the new switch is directly next to the current switch.
